The 1998-99 NBA season was the Bucks' 31st season in the NBA.〔(1998-99 Milwaukee Bucks )〕 In the 1998 NBA Draft, the Bucks selected Dirk Nowitzki as their ninth pick, but soon traded him to the Dallas Mavericks for Robert Traylor. The Bucks also hired George Karl as coach. Midway through the season, they acquired Sam Cassell from the New Jersey Nets in a three team trade. The Bucks made the playoffs after a seven-year playoff drought, finishing fourth in the Central Division with a 28-22 record.
